Our sounds this week were the sounds f, k, q, and v. I am noticing a lot of progress lately in how well students are able to decode syllables and make them into words. If you have been practicing this at home, then keep it up! We wrapped up our writing about our term 2 goals this week as well. We have been practicing asking and answering more questions in French, and trying to speak French more with our classmates. Now that term 1 is finished, I will be expecting students to really make an effort to speak as much French as possible.
In math, we began learning about 3D solids. We learned their names, and the names of their parts (faces/les faces, edges/les arêtes, vertices/les sommets). We have been practicing counting the number of faces, arêtes and sommets on each solid.
In science, we worked with our communication buddies to continue preparing our presentation about Canadian animals and how they adapt to each season. We are almost finished, and will be sending them home soon to prepare to present to the class!
Today was our first skating session, and it was a great success. All students had a great time! Thank you so much to all the parent volunteers who were able to join us. If you are able to volunteer for future weeks and have not already indicated this on the google form, please click here to do so now. In preparation for next week's skating, consider having your child practice loosening his/her skates and putting them on their own feet. This way, they will be ready when a volunteer comes to tie their skates, and will get on the ice faster!
Important dates/times for next week:
Monday: Library Day
Tuesday: Term 2 sub orders begin
Wednesday:
Thursday: Term 2 pizza orders begin; Term 1 reports sent home
Friday: Skating 11:25-12:25 - volunteers please sign in at office and then meet us at the classroom
Homework for next week:
Reading: 10 minutes per night
French: Les sons f, v, k, j
Math: Prodigy (approx 20 minutes/week is recommended)
Have a great weekend!
