We had such a fun winter-y week here at SLPS! On Tuesday we built our Inukshuks and then had a blast splitting up into mixed-grade teams for the winter carnival. On Wednesday we were lucky to have fresh snow for our snowshoeing lesson and enjoyed playing games in our snowshoes.
In French we learned the sound "an", which can also be spelled "en", "am" and "em". We wrote about our carnival activities and instructions to build an inukshuk. We practiced making questions and asking them to a partner.
In math we continued to work on measuring objects with non-standard units. We also did some problem solving thinking about how long it might take to travel different distances. We traced our bodies with our grade 6 buddies and measured different parts of our body.
Important dates/times for next week:
Monday: Class Pet - Charlie; Library Day
Tuesday: Show and tell - Kalim
Wednesday:
Thursday: Show and tell - Boyd
Friday: Class Pet - Owen H; Marshmallow challenge (science)
Homework for next week:
Reading: 10 minutes per night
French: le son an
Math: Prodigy - about 20 minutes per week
