Apologies that this post is late, as I was home sick on Friday.
Last week we did a review of the sounds e, é, o, and è. We practiced listening closely when reading a word, and then sorting the words according to their sound. We have talked about how it is extremely important to listen to the word, not just look for the letter, since sometimes letters work together to make different sounds.
We started to learn about procedural writing, and wrote the steps we follow to get dressed for outside. We learned words like "En premier" (first), puis (then), ensuite (next), finalement (finally). We also reviewed vocabulary of outdoor clothing items.
In math we did centres to continue to build our numeracy skills. We alternated between numeracy games and numeracy/counting worksheets. We are still working on recognizing numbers up to 20 when they are out of order, and relating numbers to benchmarks of 5 and 10. We will begin skip counting and counting strategies this week.
In science we continued to work on the seasons, and we drew and labelled special events that occur in the fall.
Important dates/times this week:
Monday: Library Day
Tuesday: sub lunch program, photo re-take orders due in the office
Wednesday: Lunch lady
Thursday: pizza lunch program
Friday: School Spirit Day - Pyjama day; dictée
Homework this week:
Reading: 10 minutes per night
French: Review sounds e, é, o, è (dictée on Friday)
Math: Prodigy; practice counting by 1s, 2s, 5s and 10s in French
Have a great week!
