Our sound last week was the sound "ai". It makes an English short e sound. We have been working on informational writing and creating a book with our marine animal research from last week's session with our communication buddies.
In math, we started to learn about money. We practiced identifying coins and recognizing their value. We also practiced counting coins, and making a given value. This week we will prepare some items for a class store.
In science we have continued to learn about conserving water and about how pollution affects drinking water. With our grade 6 buddies, students did an experiment to clean water that had been "polluted" with mud, vegetable oil, plastic wrappers, string, etc. We learned that it is very hard to make dirty water clean again!
There will be a French book fair at SLPS this week. Our class will be visiting the book fair on Thursday afternoon with our grade 6 buddies to help. Children will need to bring money if they wish to purchase a book, and books range in price from $5 to $25.
On Friday afternoon, all of SLPS will be participating in our annual Walk for Water. This event is a fundraiser for Water Aid, and students are encouraged to bring in a small donation. Donations will only be collected on Friday.
